Who we are

New Line Renovations is a renovation contractor serving Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

• Quote requests: your name, phone number, email, address or postal code, the services you need, details about the property and timeline, and any photos you upload.
• Contact messages: your name, the phone number or email you give us, and your message.
• Customer accounts: your name, email, phone number and a securely hashed password, plus your quotes, messages with our team and invoices.
• Technical information: when you submit a form we record the IP address it came from, to help us block spam and abuse.
• Site statistics: which pages of this site are visited and the referring page. See "Cookies" below. We do not store IP addresses for statistics.

How we use it

• To prepare quotes, contact you about your project, schedule and carry out the work.
• To send you emails about your quote, messages, invoices and account, such as password resets.
• To issue invoices and keep the business and tax records required by Canadian law.
• To keep the site secure and understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Cookies

• Session cookie: keeps you signed in and protects our forms from forgery. It is deleted when you close your browser.
• Statistics cookie (nl_visitor): a random identifier that lets us count unique visitors without knowing who they are. It lasts up to 400 days and is only read by this site.
• Theme preference: if you choose light or dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser only.

We also count clicks on our phone number, email address and quote buttons, and completed form submissions, in our own statistics, linked only to the random statistics identifier above.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works, but you will not be able to stay signed in.

Service providers

Some providers process information on our behalf so the site can work: our web hosting provider, Cloudflare (which delivers the site and may protect our forms from spam), our email provider, and Google Fonts (which serves the site's typefaces, so your browser connects to Google's servers). They receive only what they need to provide their service. Some of them may process data outside Canada.

How long we keep it

We keep quote requests, messages and account information for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry or project and to honour our workmanship guarantee. Invoices and related records are kept for as long as Canadian tax law requires. You can ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to us using it (which may mean we can no longer provide a quote or service). Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and uploaded photos are only available to you and our staff. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
